Extensive and Effective Academic and Administrative Participation of Palestine Polytechnic University in the forum of the Palestinian-Dutch Academic Cooperation Project on Water

 

The PPU participated with seven work papers on water within the Palestinian Holland Academic Cooperation Project. In addition, the PPU chaired a main session and a project management meeting within six Palestinian universities and five Dutch  universities. In the forum, the PPU was represented by the Director of the Project Dr. Nabeel al-Joulani and engineer Nidal Abu Rajab, from the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering, and Dr. Maher al-Ja'bari and Dr. Hasan Sawalha, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The participants' papers in the forum were

1.      GIS Mapping of Ground Water Wells and Land Use Study of the Eocene Aquifer Zone in Palestine, by Dr. Nabil Joulani and Nidal Abu Rajab, from Palestine Polytechnic University.

2. Hydrological Assessment and Modelling of the Eocene Aquifer based on scarce data, Palestin, by  Dr. Muath Abu Sa'dah, from the private sector, Dr. Mohammad N. Almasri, from An-Najah Universit, and Dr. Nabil AL-Joulani, from Palestine Polytechnic University.

3. On-ground N- Loading and Groundwater Nitrate Contamination in the Eocene Aquifer, Palestine. by Dr. Nabil Joulani and Nidal Abu Rajab, from Palestine Polytechnic University, and  Tariq Judeh, Dr. Mohammad Almasri, and Dr. Sameer Shadeed, from An-Najah University.

4.  Reuse of wastewater from the stone industry in production of cast stone, presented by Dr. Nabil Joulani, , from Palestine Polytechnic University, and  Dr. Riyadh Awad, from an-Najah University.

5. Monitoring and Evaluation of Chemical Contamination of Drinking Water from Roof-Top Plastic Storage Tanks in Palestine, by Dr. Hassan Sawalha, Dr. Maher Al-Jabari, and a group of students from the Department of Environmental Technology Engineering: Sabreen Hsani, Madleen Dababseh and Razan Al-Sharabati

6. Characterization and treatment of wastewater from dairy industry in Palestine, by Dr. Hassan Sawalha, Dr. Maher Al-Jabari, and a group of students from the Department of Environmental technology Engineering:  Nareman Zahde, Donia Aburayyan, Marwa Jbour and Haneen Abu Farah

7. Wastewater characterization and investigating cleaner production in leather tanneries in Palestine, by Dr. Maher Al-Jabai, and Dr. Hassan Sawalha, from Palestine Polytechnic University,  Eldon Raj, from Holland, and  students: Razan Alsharabat and Sawsan Sarsourfrom Palestine Polytechnic University.

It is noteworthy that Palestine Polytechnic University presided a main session in this scientific forum, titled "Industrial water Management". The session was chaired and directed by Dr. Nabeel Joulani, in addition to the participation of the university in the extended administrative meeting to the project managers. The meeting included Dr. Maher Abu Madi, from Birzeit University, Dr. Jules, from the University of Twente in Netherland, Dr. Amer Mer'I, from al-Quds University (Abu Dees), Dr. Sameer Shadeed, from An-Najah Univesity, Dr. Nawaf Abu Khalaf, from Khadouri University, in addition to representatives from the Dutch participating universities.
