Palestine Polytechnic University discusses the prospects for cooperation with the University of Texas and the Munib and Angela Al-Masri Foundation

 
 
The PPU received a delegation from the University of Texas and the Munib and Angla Al-Masri Foundation. They were received by his Excellency Ahmed Saeed Bayoud Al-Tamimi, member of the Executive Committee of PLO, Chairman of the Council of the University Graduates Union, Chairman of the PPU’s Board of Trustees,  and Prof. Dr. Imad Khatib.  President of Palestine Polytechnic University, in addition to the vice presidents of the University, Dean of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, and Dean of the College of Engineering. The delegation consisted of the Palestinian businessman Dr. Munib Rashid Al-Masri, Dr. Sharon Mosheer, Dean of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin, and Dr. Bill Germain, the Director of Development and Alumni Relations and Associate Director of the Geology Foundation of the Jackson School of Geosciences at the University of Texas at Austin.
Al-Tamimi welcomed the visiting delegation and gave an overview on the university, its academic programs and its developmental and research projects implemented recently by the university, and he stressed the importance of networking with international universities and educational institutions and the University interest in developing its educational programs.
As well, Al-Khatib talked about the university’s programs, achievements, and keeping pace with development and technology, and the university’s openness to cooperate with institutions to enhance competitiveness at the local, regional and international levels.
In his speech, Al-Masri, praised the University and its development and he talked about the willingness of   the Munib and Angela Al-Masri Foundation to cooperate to support higher education institutions in Palestine. He also talked about  the Munib and Angla Al-Masri Foundation in its golden jubilee and the launch of its future plan for the next hundred years. He also stressed the importance of cooperation with the University of Texas, having number "11" at the level of the United States of America, and the benefit the  higher education  institutions  -with all its different higher education programs- will get from having scientific and research exchange with this University..
Dr. Mosheer, as well, expressed her happiness for visiting Palestine Polytechnic University and talked about the University of Texas and postgraduate programs in general, stressing the importance of communication with Palestine Polytechnic University.
The visit took place within  the Munib and Angela Al-Masri Foundation’s Golden Jubilee celebration where the Munib and Angela Al-Masri Foundation, the University of Texas and the Jerusalem Academy for Scientific Research and the Palestinian universities will sign an agreement on Thursday, January 16th, 2020 in the House of  Palestine, to provide scholarships for postgraduate studies and grant fellowships at the University of Texas to Palestinian students and researchers. This will, in turn, promote and enhance students’ competencies and raise the level of higher education in Palestine.
 
At the end of the meeting, the delegation was taken on a tour to the Munib Rashid Al-Masri Building for Innovation and Excellence and the labs of Stone and Marble Center.
