PPU Students Publish a Joint Scientific Report in Collaboration with Specialists from Hebron Governmental Hospital in Clinical Trials

A group of students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at PPU participated in publishing a scientific medical report in the scientific journal Case Reports in Surgery entitled "A Case of Peritoneal Encapsulation Presented as Acute Mechanical Small Bowel Obstruction: A Case Report and a Brief Literature Review." The study was supervised by a team of surgeons at Hebron Governmental Hospital.

This research is the culmination of students’ efforts in the clinical trials in the medicine program at PPU in collaboration with local and national hospitals. Through this, the university aims to equip students with the necessary skills to treat various pathological conditions through practical and scientific research methods.

The scientific report deals with a study of a rare condition called peritoneal encapsulation (PE), a rare congenital malformation. The study sheds light on PE, which remains underdiagnosed, undertreated and mismanaged. It aims at improving early diagnoses as well as possible treatments for the condition.

It is worth mentioning that this research paper is a requirement of the “Research Methods” course, which aims to introduce students to scientific research methods in the health field as well as familiarize them with research methods and publishing in scientific journals.
