The Arab-German Young Academy, Palestine Polytechnic University and Helmut Schmidt University conclude a training workshop in the field of open laboratories for the design and manufacture of models in Palestine

 

The PPU concluded the activities of the training workshop in the open laboratories for designing and manufacturing models in Palestine "FABLAB". The workshop was organized by the Arab-German Young Academy of  Sciences and Humanities (AGYA) in partnership with the PPU and the German Helmut Schmidt University. It was attended by the representative of the German Representation in Palestine Mrs. Hanna Ilga, President of Palestine Polytechnic University, Prof. Imad Khatib and  his vice presidents, deans of colleges, chairmen of departments, members of the Arab-German Young Academy Dr. Tobias Redlich, Dr. Mohammad Adm, a delegation from Helmut Schmidt University, in addition to  the participation of a group of engineering scientists from Palestine and Germany, and businessmen from Hebron.

Dr. Al-Khatib welcomed the attendees and stressed the importance of such a workshop, that would    result in the establishment of the first open laboratory "FABLAB"  in Palestine. This lab., as he said, would serve many purposes and different groups of scholars and researchers as well as businessmen and many individuals in the community in all its spectrum.

 Dr. Mohammad Adm, assistant professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics and Physics at PPU and member of the AGYA, explained the goals of the Arab-German Academy, benefiting both the Arabs and Germans, and he pointed out that the Academy  implemented in 2019 more than 120 research entrepreneurial and creative projects in Germany and the Arab countries.

Dr. Tobias Redlich, a researcher at Helmut Schmidt University in Germany, thanked the PPU for the warm welcome and hospitality and he started his speech by giving a detailed presentation on the idea of ​​open laboratories "FABLAB". Then he talked about some of the universities around the world that already  established open laboratories as well as the most important positive effects of having these laboratories in different countries.

In a related context, an open dialogue session was held, chaired by the Vice-President for Planning and Development, Mr. Ayman Sultan, in which they discussed the importance of these projects and services that were provided to many members of the community interested in computerized design fields. After that he thanked the AGYA and Helmut Schmidt University for their efforts in the State of Palestine.

At the end of this workshop, the participants from Palestinian universities and industrial schools and  all those who exerted efforts in arranging and working on this workshop were honored.
