The College of Nursing Organizes a Celebration for People of Determination

The College of Nursing organized a celebration titled "I am human" in honor of the International Day for Supporting People with Special Needs (People of Determination) in order to support them and promote their rights, as well as increase public awareness, involve them in political, economic, and cultural life, and work to provide them with a comprehensive and accessible world. Moreover, empower them to achieve sustainable development. This is done in collaboration with the Directorate of Education in Hebron, the General Palestinian Union of People with Disability (GUPWD), and the Khalil Al-Rahman Association for Rehabilitation.

The event was opened by the story of Hussam Al-Awadeh, a young child with autism who was able to fit into a government school with his peers thanks to support from his family and professional therapists at Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum School. Al-Awawdeh stated his desire to join Palestine Polytechnic University to study architecture there in the future.

Dr. Amjad Barham, the university president, welcomed the attendees and praised Al-Awawdeh for his dedication and determination. He also welcomed him to become a student at Palestine Polytechnic University in the near future. Barham emphasized that PPU administration does not overlook the importance of supporting people with special needs, adopting them, and providing them with equal opportunities to learn and engage in society effectively. PPU takes into account their needs when planning buildings and facilities.
