Sustainable Energy Policy

Palestine Polytechnic University pays close attention to energy management. PPU has a solar power system that produces up to 40% of its annual consumption through a rooftop project.  Fans, …etc. The university annually assesses its own energy consumption and realises its own energy-saving potential by means of updating energy consuming systems to (A grade) systems such as LED lighting, air conditioners with inverter machines, sensor lights, window curtains, and LCD screens instead of CRT. Also,

Besides that, PPU mainly relies on natural lighting by ensuring renovations / new buildings to be with large-sized windows and glass interfaces, and glass fronts of buildings for natural light exploitation as much as possible.

The university adopts energy efficiency in the different stages of the building’s life cycle, including design and planning, assessment of assets, operation, and facilities management, renovation, and improvement projects.

where the PPU ensures that the Procurement Department makes purchasing decisions according to rules and priorities related to efficient products in terms of energy consumption.

Also, PPU aims to have completed a process of ensuring that any investment in the energy sector actively reflects our own aspiration to support the energy transition, through our research, teaching, and other institutional activities such as consultations and technical solutions.

As PPU commits to divest from fossil fuels, the university remains committed to working with and supporting the energy industry through our education and research, helping to meet wider industry and societal ambitions.
