Work Hours, Salaries & Benefits

Work Days & Hours

  • Employees work five days a week; Friday and Saturday are the weekly holiday.
  • Working hours: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (8 hours per day).
  • Break: 30 minutes from 12:00 to 12:30 PM, counted as part of official work hours.
  • Minimum weekly hours: 40 hours.
  • Employees may obtain departure permits of up to 2 hours per day and 8 hours per month, deducted from annual leave.

Salaries & Wages

Salaries, wages, and grades are determined based on the unified staff schedule approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and applied at the university.

  • The employee's gross salary includes: basic salary, grade allowance, cost of living, family, technical and administrative allowances where applicable.
  • Salary is subject to deductions for savings, retirement, health insurance, and taxes.
  • Annual increments are paid at the beginning of the year per the unified staff regulations.

Savings Fund

  • Subscription to the savings fund is mandatory for regular (tenured) employees.
  • Employee contribution: 3% of basic salary.
  • University contribution: 6% of basic salary.
  • Note: The savings fund stops upon employee tenure and is replaced by the retirement system.

Retirement System

  • Subscription to the retirement fund is mandatory for regular (tenured) employees.
  • Employee contribution: 10% of basic salary.
  • University contribution: 6% of basic salary.
  • Subscriptions are made per the agreement between PPU and the Palestinian Pension Authority.

Health Insurance

  • Employees are entitled to subscribe to the university's health insurance system.
  • Annual subscription: 180 JD for the member, 180 JD per spouse, 60 JD per child under 18.
  • Employee and the association each contribute 50% for the member and beneficiaries.
  • Unmarried university-student children over 18 may be insured.

Tuition Fee Waiver

  • Available to employees who have completed at least five years of tenured service.
  • Entitles adding 10 marks to the child's Tawjihi score, provided it meets the minimum admission requirement.
  • If admitted without the bonus marks: 100% tuition waiver throughout the study period.
  • If multiple children are enrolled simultaneously:
    • First child: 100% waiver
    • Second child: 75% waiver
    • Third child: 50% waiver
